This year the girls made the pies. Marlee made pecan pie and Kara made pumpkin pie and they were both delicious with whipped cream. Marlee also learned how to make stuffing and helped me with the turkey. After chopping up cups and cups of celery, Marlee understood why I don't make stuffing very often even though I love it. Marlee and Kara have been making their own recipe books and typing up or copying recipes as they learn to make new things. We had our neighbors from Vietnam Khahn Ly and Quynh Nguyen over for their first traditional American Thanksgiving dinner. They are both from Vietnam. They had eaten turkey before, but they'd never seen one baked whole. They'd never eaten sweet potatos or stuffing before either. They'd seen them in the grocery store, but didn't know how to prepare them. They are very nice and they both spoil Arik. |
