One of the things that happens when your child has Type I diabetes is that you automatically get a spot as a chaperone on all the field trips. On a day long field trip across the state, a parent's attendance becomes mandatory. In April, the 4th grade went to Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center to see what they had been learning about this year as they studied Virginia history. It was a beautiful day. How lucky we are that we actually got to visit the places that children across America study about. I'd been to the original site of Jamestown and to the actual Yorktown battlefield, but never to either of these two places which are geared to education and had a lot of cool stuff to see and do.
