Spring at the Old Stone Bridge at Bull Run National Battlefield

Arik and Charlene at the Old Stone Bridge
On the last day of Spring Break 2012, I took the kids for a walk near the Old Stone Bridge at Bull Run National Battlefield.  It started to sprinkle as we were ending our walk.  We saw deer, birds, and beautiful nature.
The bluebells were out on this cool overcast day.

I love the roots on this old tree.

The kids were hard to get away from the rocks in the creek down below the bridge.

There were all kinds of wildflowers in bloom in April.

Can you believe this is the best of three shots Kara took?

Kara is a sassy 13.

This bug was enormous and sitting right on the boardwalk through the swampy area.

Isn't the view great.  This is up the hill from the Old Stone Bridge.

A few dogwoods were out.

There were still dogwoods and redbuds out, but they were past their peak.

We love walking these paths.

Virginia bluebells.

Virginia bluebells grow everywhere under the trees along the creekbed.

Bluebells on both sides of the path with Arik, Kara and Marlee.

Bull Run in the spring.

Kara is doing the sassy pose down below with Darcie and Marlee up top.

It may be hard to tell, but that is a deer hiding in the trees.

These deer are really hiding.

Love the fresh new growth and the old fallen tree side by side in the woods.

Ok, next time I am in VA I must walk that path. I remember it being just that beautiful.
