Tonight was Kara's first band concert. She started playing the flute this year at Mercer Middle School where she is in 6th grade. It was fun to see how much progress the kids have made since they picked up their instruments for the first time in September. I could see her pretty well, but I was too far back for my camera to get a good shot during the concert.
Today I went to a Continuing Legal Education Class to qualify to be a guardian ad litem in Virginia or the attorney charged with looking after the best interests of the child. I'm not planning to take on any cases like that soon, but it's an area of law I've always been interested in. Gary took the day off work and spent it with Arik. They bought Arik a few shirts, went to Burger King for Lunch, played Othello and Wii together and had some father son time.
We haven't had too much snow, but we had an ice storm early this week that canceled school for the day on Tuesday. It was 1/2 and inch of snow with 1/2 and inch of ice on top. With Martin Luther King Day it made for a four day weekend.
